Graphic display in OpenOffice

For some time I have the problem that OpenOffice in plain text files that included not displaying graphics.
Only in the print preview, they are to be seen.
In the normal editing mode you only see the frame.

Is there a switch somewhere where you can change?

Which format graphics? Have you changed something before the problem occurred (eg update)?

the graphics formats are TIF or jpg.
I have not done, I use the version 2.31
If I had changed something? I am not so sure.
I suspect accidentally pressed to have anything, what has caused this phenomenon. Under MS-Word are the graphics to see in OpenOffice is not.
