How to distribute PPS to customers on CD?

I create a PowerPoint show file, It contains two small .avi movies both of which run perfectly on the
computer which was used to create the slide show. However, on two other test computers, the movies won't run, all you see is the first frame as a static picture. Otherwise, the slide show runs perfectly. All three computers are running Windows XP Pro and Office 2000. I don't think file size is an issue as they are both around 6 MB. Is there a Codec/ type of compression I can use which will guarantee that these movies will run on any XP computer?

Do the .avi files play back correctly in Windows Media Player? If not, you may need the correct video codec to make it. To know how codec affect media file playback and which codec do you need, please refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa168133.aspx.

If you want to these movies in your PowerPoint presentation run on any XP computer, converting your PowerPoint presentation to EXE would be a good way, then others without PowerPoint app installed on their computers or without the correct video codec installed on their computers are able to view. For codecs, the best one out there is K-Lite Codec Pro, it comes free & you can easily get it by searching on the net.
