Office`03 "App. failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)"!

The problem is with Win office pro 2003 (under XPpro). I had to do a non-distructive reinstall (repair) of XPpro (back to SP-1) -

Now, every attempt to use any application in the Win-office pro`03 suite is blocked with a " failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002) " error message.

I've "uninstalled" and reinstalled Office - w/same results?.?

(Just a thought) question... might it be just some "cleaning up" of Office un-uninstalled 'scraps' left behind in the OS registery?

After searching the Web, it appears that this is a fairly common problem, but there are NO clear explanations or solutions posted??? Office`03 is the 'only' install that i'm having any trouble with - ("Microsoft crashing into Microsoft-"again" - oh well)!

    Can you guys help please!

    Hi GerryH

Before providing the solution, I want to know that before doing the repair did you developed an application using VB.NET or VC++; or have you downloaded something which caused you to repair your Windows? Please provide me some details so that I can help you to solve your problem.

Meanwhile have a look at this.

Thanks, but no VB, no C++ fiddling. The sudden problem with XPpro came about seemingly <note> seemingly, as a result of installing SP-2 and/or SP-3.

[History] The 'New' install of XPpro began a month ago with the install of a new (bigger) HD. Shortly after SP-2 & 3 was installed, the OS began failing to boot up to Windows??? (i.e. computer would 'flash' an (unreadable) blue screen error, then the loading process would stop.

My temp/emergency`workaround was to, first boot up into Safe Mode, then do a (windows) reboot without a shut down in between- this allowed the OS to fully boot up... (acted like a Driver issue).

Again, the strange issue here is that the Microsoft OFFICE`03 pro suite is the "only" installed application that has gone screwy!!! (a microsoft application Driver, clashing with a microsoft OS, excuse me?!? How could this be?)

Everything else is working well so far, only MS Office Suite is unaccessable - (which of course I need quite often).

Wasn't the repair of XP successful? Try repairing again. Follow this repair guide http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Or you could try restoring your system to a time just prior to installing any updates, as long as you can access the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" option from the Advanced Options menu (in order to access the menu, press the F8 key just before Windows begins to load / directly after POST). You'll need to log on as the administrator, or a user that has administrative rights. At the command prompt, type...
    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
...and then press ENTER. Then just follow the instructions on the screen.

Another possibility is to select the "Last Known Good Configuration" (your most recent settings that worked) option from the Advanced Options menu.

Not (all) fixed. I installed (again) SP-1a. Office 03 suite now works "good" - but now "all" USB functionallity is completely disabled.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall MS Office 2003 on your Vista machine?
For programs other than MS office, where this issue "App. failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)" appears, it has been observed that Installing .NET Framework 3.5 fixes the issues. You can try this on your machine and see if that works for Office 2003 as well.

Try to download it from here and then install. See if that solves your problem. If that doesn't work, then uninstall the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 from Control Panel.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (2.74MB)
