Cannot play sound in winamp

Hello everyone,

I have reformatted my computer due to various problems last week. Now everything is working fine except sound. Every time I play something on winamp I get the error message as cannot play the file because there is some problem with my sound device. It also mentions that there may not be any sound device installed on the computer or it may be in use by another program or it may not be functioning properly.

I am totally blank as to what should I do now. In control panel no audio device is found under the volume panel.

Please help me as I am totally new to this type of error.

First check your Device Manager by right-clicking on My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager and if there is any unknown/improperly installed devices.

Most probably you will need to install the drivers for your sound card. Visit the website and download the latest updated drivers. This will fix your problem

Might be loose connection. Open your computer case and remove the sound card and replace it. Now reboot your system. Now see if windows detect your card in device manager?
