Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 install fails

I was runnning the Service Pack 2 install and it failed and when I checked
the svpack.log file it has the following error:

    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\ToGac.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\System.Web.Mobile.dll
    1113.859: Return Code = 0
    1113.859: Starting process:
    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\SetRegNI.exe v1.1.4322
    1113.984: Return Code = 0
    1113.984: Starting process: rundll32 apphelp,ShimFlushCache
    1114.531: Return Code = 0
    1114.531: Starting process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\mofcomp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wlbsprov.mof

    1115.031: Return Code = 2
    1115.031: DoInstallation:RunInfProcesses for ProcessesToRun Failed

It looks like a WMI issue........Any advice and sorting this out so that I
can get the Service pack installed?

    Thanks

I followed you link and did the first part (did not repair OS) and re-ran
    SP2 and worked sucessfully.

    Thanks

Re: Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 install fails

After spending my entire day on this problem: The problem appears to be caused by corrupt OS system files. Unless a system repair doesn't fix the problem (which doesn't work 99% of the time), you are looking at a scratch load.

After spending hours in the registry, I opted to perform a scratch load, where
I performed the SP2 install successfully (as admin) prior to creating any users.
