    Network Path Not Found

I am getting an error message "NETWORK PATH NOT FOUND "when I am trying
to add a win-xp (sp-2) client machine to the domain (i.e. win-2003). Here is my network setup

    ISP---->ADSL/Modem---->Router---->Switch----->DNS Servers/SAP-Server & Client Machines

    DNS Server IP-Address (192.168.10.2)
    Default Gateway (192.168.10.6)
    Pref DNS (192.168.10.2)
    Alt DNS (192.168.10.6)

    CLIENT Machines
The ip-address range as-per our DNS is (192.168.10.1 -to-
    192.168.10.151)
The Default Gateway of the client Machine is (192.168.10.6)
    Preffered DNS (192.168.10.2)
    Alternate DNS(192.168.10.6)

Here is the scenario which I am facing :- the client machines are able
to access Internet, they are also able to access the SAP Applications
from the SAP-Server and do the programming stuffs & Users are able to
login into their Network Login Area(i.e Roaming Profile) on any of the
client machines which was created on DNS-Server ,but client machines
are not able to ping the DNS-Server and they are not able to ping the
    SAP-Server.

From the Client Machines we are able to do Remote Desktop Logon on
SAP-Server (192.168.10.7),but we are unable to ping it and also the
    DNS(192.168.10.2).

And I am unable to add any new client in the DNS,I am getting error
    message "Network Path Not Found"
WINS is enabled on the DNS
File and Printer Sharing is enabled
nslookup is giving me error- "Default Server Unknown"

I can roll-back to my previous Network Setup i.e.

    ON DNS SERVER

    DNS ip-add (192.168.10.2)
DG (192.168.10.1)-->the ip-address of the switch to which DNS & Client Machines are connected
    Pref.DNS(192.168.10.2)

    ON CLIENT MACHINES

    DG (192.168.10.2)
    Pref.DNS(192.168.10.2)

But in this scenario I am unable to provide users with Internet access, but I am uable to ping the DNS and add the machines to domain.

But how to provide the users both of them i.e. Internet Access as well as DNS access.

    The router IP-Add is (192.168.10.6)

    Regards,
    Kumar

    Hello klsingh,

Remove the router address x.x.x.6 from the DNS server entry's. Use only the
internal DNS servers and try again. For Internet access use the FORWARDERS
under the server properties of the DNS management console and fill in there
    the ISP's DNS server.

    Best regards

    Hello klsingh,

I didn't said you should add it to the forwarder or anywhere else. !!!REMOVE!!!
the router address from any DNS realed entry and try again after a reboot.

    Re: Network Path Not Found

Set the local DNS to forward to a public DNS server.

With AD, all machines must use the local DNS server so that they can find
AD resources using SRV records in the local DNS.

To resolve "foreign" URLs this DNS must forward to a public DNS.

    Re: Network Path Not Found

    Hello klsingh,

In the RUN line type dnsmgmt.msc and press enter. This opens the DNS console.
Rightclick the servername and open the properties, go to FORWARDERS tab and
here fill in the ISP's ip addresses. If the fields are greyed out, expand
the servername>forward lookup zone and delete the "." zone. Then close the
console and open it again. Now you can set the ip's. Deleting the "." zone
will not have any effect on your domain. The root zone is not used internally.
