Support Tools for Server 2008 / Vista?

Hi @ all,

where I csn find the Support Tools for Server 2008 (not RSAT)?

Or is it possible to run the Srv2003-Support Tools on Srv2008?

Any idea?

I believe the tools come with the OS in W2k8. For example ldp and adsiedit.
I know there are differences in the W2k8 and W2k3 versions.

not all the tools are included, for example, you will get dnscmd.exe when you install the DNS role.,

No way... I got MSDN and Select DVD and there are no support.cab on the media.

the downloaded copies contained support.cab.

If you will check the windows\system32 folder, you can find a lot included,
so have a look there. Or specify the tools you are looking for.

Thank you. Your advice appears to be accurate. I just received word from Dell
support that the old support tools are now built in. In addition, the name is
changed from Support Tools to RSAT.

Instructions on partner sites are confusing as several show screenshots of
support tools on the 2008 DVD.

The tools were for installation on a 2003 server for preparation to move
domain control to the new 2008 server. I will install 2003 support tools
instead on that server.

Hello LoriP,

Download and install RSAT:

RSAT 32bit:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

RSAT 64bit:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Then open Control Panele, Programs and features, Turn windows features on
or off, check the tools you like under "Remote Server Administration Tools"
