    iSCSI target in Windows 2008

Can Windows 2008 act as an iSCSI target? If yes how to?

You either need to update to the WSS (Windows Storage Server) it does
    include R.I.P. WinTarget 3.x
or you can use any other third-party toolkit like DataCore SANxxx,
    FalconStor IPstor (OEM only now
just as WinTarget) and StarWind from Rocket Division Software. This
one is my favorite as it has free
    version.

Here is another iSCSI Target for windows,
KernSafe iStorage Server is an advanced and powerful, full-featured software-only iSCSI Target Server for Microsoft Windows (both commercial and free versions).

Your iSCSI target does not work even with your own iSCSI initiator. I
always get "Windows cannot complete format" message when
trying to use them both... And I have BSOD when trying to burn with
    Nero to your emulated DVD-RAM.

Probably you could fix your broken software BEFORE you post
promotional meterial on the forums? :) And BTW why did you STEAL
Rocket Division Software StarWind UI concept? I don't think they have
great UI to steal from :) Look at DataCore or IPStor.

    >Windows cannot complete format
You have no write permission in your initiator, check your configuration.
other things I don't know, but it works perfactlly in my office.
BTW. You will not be the gunman, right?
I can't find any "same UI" between istorge server and startwind, how can I find it?

    1) This is not true... Their initiator says "Read Write" access on the
tab. Or do you mean "Virtual Write ..." option? I don't need it as I
    don't
want my data to disappear after disconnect...

MS Initiator 2.08 does not work in the same way. Exactly the same
error reported. Error log is empty BTW.

    2) Come on! :) Start any wizard from StarWind and their target to see
"Made in China" had completely cloned even device names and devices
    order.
For some stupid reason they also call "Disk bridge" partition or whole
disk sharing. It's not industry name and only from StarWind iSCSI
    target I
know what should it mean :)

Main form concept is also pretty much the same.

OK, whatever... If it works for you - good for you :)

You have to config you users and groups in your target side, and then log on with user and password by your initiator.
iStorage Server needs CHAP or IP anthronization. But starwind, I don't know how to config (always unavailable, trial-version, in ms initiator, always say "anthronization failed")

    Hi Marcus
Well I've been using DataCore a while ago, but it seemed too complicated to me, and I didn't continue with that. StarWind Server seemed easy to use and fast solution check it out.

    Best luck
