The DNS server recv() function failed. The event data contains the

    Hello,

I receive the following error in my DNS server eventlog:

"The DNS server recv() function failed. The event data contains the error."

I don't find any solution for this on the net.

Configuration: Win 2K3 SP2 (AD), Exch 2K3 SP2, DNS, WINS, DHCP.

Does anybody have some tips to resolve this?

    thx,
    C.

How often do you see this event?

Please post the full details of the event, including the event ID by using
the Copy button on the event properties sheet.

Are you running any port scanning software on the network, or do you have
    debug logging enabled on DNS?

    Hi,
I checked with my network administrator and he confirmed that there is no
    port scanning active.
Also did I check the debug logging and it is disabled.

Re: The DNS server recv() function failed. The event data contains

The error code seems to be

    "10054

WSAECONNRESET -- Connection reset by peer. This occurs when an established
connection is shut down for some reason by the remote computer. "

It will be hard to find out the exact reason. In general, occasional
occurrence of this event should not affect DNS server functionality because
the server has robust retry logic. Have you noticed any functionality
    problem of the DNS server?
