Windows 2003 R2 Standard with 14GB of RAM

Hi All,
Can someone clarify once and for all the memory limit on a w2k3 r2 std
server. I Have seen that with /pae, the memory can be extented to 64gb, but
my system only sees the complete amount at boot up. Once windows is loaded,
it only sees 4GB.
hardware :hp dl380 g5 (recognize all 14GB)
OS : W2K3 R2 Standard SP2 (recognize only 4GB)

Do i have to install Enterprise to fully take advantage of my RAM ?

Yes you need either W2003 Enterprise 32bit or W2003 Standard 64bit to use
more than 4GB RAM

thanks Peter,
does that mean that the /pae is no use in standard edition ??? what about
these articles that says it could be extended to 64GB ?

Whatever you do Windows 2003 Standard 32bit will never use more than 4GB RAM

For additional information you might find section 2.4 Physical Address
Extension at

useful.

On some hardware, 32 bit Windows will not be able to use all 4 GB of RAM.
Depending on the motherboard chipset, enabling PAE may allow all 4 GB of RAM
to be used.

Also, if the hardware supports Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and it is
enabled, PAE gets enabled by default.

The restriction on the amount of RAM each "edition" can use is a
marketing/licensing thing.
