    RDP TimeOut

    Hi,

Remote (TerminalServer) connect to a SBS and/or MicrosoftServer 2003.
After a while of inactivity the user most login again.
Can this be determined or disabled so the users stay connected ?
    (unless he disconnect of course)

    thanks in advance.

Bring up the Terminal Services Configuration management snapin. go to
Connections folder. Right click on RDP-Tcp and select properties. Go to
sessions tab to configure disable/configure session timeouts.

    Re: RDP TimeOut

Just to make I understand what logon again means...

Does it mean their remote desktop session is closing and they have to
relaunch/sign back in or does it mean the servers screen saver is kicking in
and they are unlocking the session to continue working?

    Re: RDP TimeOut

Sounds like it could be group policy. Check if something is set under
    Terminal Services in gpedit.msc

Computer > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Terminal Services
    > Sessions

Set a time limit for active but idle Terminal Services sessions
Terminate session when time limits are reached

The default configuration is "Not Configured"

    Re: RDP TimeOut

    hey christophe,

what does it mean in detail?
I'm experiencing the same problem. After a period of inactivity the user not
only have to enter the password for session-reactivation because of the
screensaver settings. Moreover he has to enter username and password because
of a disconnected session! GP-settings should prevent this behaviour.

    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Re: RDP TimeOut

For me the "screen saver settings" were enough
for not being "kicked out" of the session.
Only the password needed to be re-entered.

I didn't touch any GP settings. That is I left it as default.

    kind regards
    christophe
