I have a question around memory usage on Windows 2003.
The server is Windows 2003 Server Enterprise with 4 GB RAM and a 2 GB
SWAP file.
If I look at Task Manager the total of all running processes is about 1.5 GB.
On the Performance Tab PF Usage shows 3.5 GB
Physical Memory Total is: 3931592
Available is: 1822916
System cache is: 227544
Now what I would expect is that the total of all running processes should
add up to
the difference of Total - Available which is 2108676. These don't add up.
My issue is that I am seeing SWAP File usage of > 95% on occasion.
Am I off base, or is there something I am not taking into account? Why
would I
see SWAP file usage skyrocket when there is more than twice the amount of RAM
in the server than there will ever be memory used by processes? How can
account
for all the memory being used on the server?
Any help would be appreciated.
