ADMT 3.0: howto migrate roaming profiles?

    Hi to all

I'm in the process of testing roaming profile migration, and have a problem
migrating a users profile on a W2K SP4 workstation. In the ADMT V3 Migration
Guide, on page 72 is the statement "You can migrate roaming user profiles
during the user account migration process. However, you still need to
translate the local copy of the profile.".

Have done this like that, but the profile doesn't work. The owner of the
profile on the server is an unknown SID, so that the profile can not be
saved when the user logs off.

    On Technet,
    http://technet2.microsoft.com/window...3.mspx?pf=true,
there is the following note: "Because roaming profiles are stored on a
server, you do not need to translate them"

    - What is true? What is the correct way to migrate roaming user profiles?
    - What was going wrong with the profile migration according ADMT migration
guide? I couldn't find the SID that is owner of the users profile after the
migration, neither on the NT4 nor the W2003 DC.

Thank you all in advance for any help!
    Franz

RE: ADMT 3.0: howto migrate roaming profiles?

    Hello Franz,

    Thank you for using newsgroup!

Based on my research, Intraforest migration of computers running Windows
2000 Professional does not require modifications to a local profile.
Windows NT 4.0 clients' local profiles would need to be migrated with ADMT.
Windows 2000 automatically executes the required changes at first logon.

For your current situation, could you help us collect the screenshots of
    any error messages and situations?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Ken

Thank you for your excellent feedback! You are right, the migrated roaming
profile works fine on a W2K workstation, without migrating/translating the
    local profile as well.

    best regards,
    Franz
