Not sure if this is cluster or DNS so trying here.
We have an Exchange 2003 cluster on 2003 Server SP1 at current. We us a DR
product called WansyncHA to replicate the exchange data to another site. One
of the things this does though is remove the "Register this connections
address in DNS" for the NIC TCP/IP properties, advanced, DNS. There is
reason for this which I won't go into but the following is what I am after.
The cluster virtual name resource for the exchange server is set to "DNS
registration must succeed". How often does registration occur within the
cluster if the NIC property says don't do this or does it even happen at all?
If that setting is not enabled but I use the "Cluster . res “Network Name
(Exchange)†/registerdns" command on a schedule is that OK? Is there a way
to set an event so if the DNS registration fails it will show in the event
log for both the normal cluster DNS registration as well as this scheduled
command?
Thanks to all!!
