RPC does not start error 1059

    Hi,
Our DB admin tried to install some updates on SQL Server 2005, it did not go
as he wanted, at some point he changed logon account for RPC service from
local system to some domain admin account. After reboot a lot of services
failed to start. RPC seems to be the "root" service in this chain of failed
services. When I try to start it manually I get an error:
Could not start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service on local computer.
Error 1059: Circular service dependency was specified.
I understand that the resolution would be to change back logon account for
RPC to Local System, however I can't get to any service Properties window to
do it, the window just does not open.
I saw similar questions and resolutions, all involve registry editing, but
the error messages not exactly the same, (Could not start the Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) Service. Error 1058) so I'm not sure I should follow
    these resolutions.
    Thank you in advance
    George

I'd try logging on locally and from a safe mode boot.

I was in the safe mode; tried local login, but the result is the same.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    George

Re: RPC does not start error 1059

I found how to fix it, if anybody interested:
    in registry editor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RpcSs\
Object name key is logon account for the service.
Changed it to original value "NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService and it worked.
