    computer browser service stops automatically...frequently

    Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble started with windows server 2003 since one hour ago. I have seen event log and found it is continuously giving application error...The detail error is "Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.2.3790.0, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.0, fault address 0x00034d33." Because of this error all my users are not able to connect to this server and they are just idle. All your efforts are highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,

How about posting the error in the system log not the application log on the problem server. If you manually stop and start the computer browser service what error do you receive?

This dll file is associated with Microsoft Visual C++ Run-Time for Visual C++. It look the module is damaged. You can try installing Visual C++ update on your system. There are some downloads available on the web. You can try installing that. The second thing I will recommend you is to boot your system in safe mode. And then run a full system antivirus scan. There can be certain malicious application in your system which is causing the issue. Replacing the dll file is not a proper solution. Many will recommend you to download one from web, but better avoid it.

Run windows update. See what help you can get through that. The second thing you can do is boot your system in safe mode. Then launch CMD and in that type sfc /scannow and hit enter. This will launch System File Checker tool which will scan your system and replace damage files. It might take time to complete but this is one of the most effective way to fix your system which has a damage file problem. You can also go ahead running a repair setup of Windows. This setup will not affect your data but will fix many issues.
