    Just to add to what Barney wrote, there's a way to accomplish essentially the
    same thing but is a bit less involved - basically, run:

    sc config wuauserv type= own
    (space between '=' and 'o' in own is important)

    Separating automatic updates from the svchost...

    will followup & check

    Hello!

    Did you install the kb932762 patch and if so, did it solve your problem?

    We have the same problem but i do not get the error message access denied
    when i try to start the services again.

    I did install the patch, but nothing....the message with the "access denied"
    error comes up when i restart the server. I am running out of ideas...hope
    you hv better luck...

    Hi guys & Girls,

    First thing is to make sure it is an update issue. Press Atl+Cntrl+Del. Find the Svchost Pid that is hogging the CPU or the most amount of Ram.

    Next Open a command prompt and type:

    tasklist /svc

    And find the Pid in there this will break down what is using the svchost. And then post. This coupled with the windows Task Man should be very helpfull.
