Enabling VSS - Error 0x8007000e: not enough storage

    I have a 688 Gig Volume on a Windows 2003 SP2 NAS Edition.. 158 Gig
    currently used..

When I enable Shadow Copy.. I receive the following error - Failed to
create: Error 0x8007000e: not enough storage is available to complete this
operation. I tried increasing the limit to 100Gig.. also tried no limit..
    Same error..

    Help ! Any suggestions??

I have started getting this on one of our servers when running the backup.

Did you get any further with this?

This is a bug. And to fix that you will have to run a hotfix provided by Microsoft. The hotfix is applicable to fix the issue associated with Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), when it is not able to create the volume snapshot. The cause of this issue is that VSS is not able to detect detects low-memory conditions. The hotfix provided in the below link will fix the problem and will offer you a more appropriate output.

VSS cannot create a volume snapshot even when VSS has sufficient memory space in Windows Server 2003

The issue is little confusing here. I found a page on Symantec that say this error occur if the VSS writer is not stable. A tiny solution was mentioned that might help. For this just open Properties by right clicking on My Computer and in that click no Advance Tab.T hen click on on Performance Settings button. You will again find a Advanced Tab in that. Later on again you have to click on Change button. There you have to select the disk and increase the space. Once done click on System Managed Size and then restart the server again. Try this a few time and see whether you are getting any benefit or not.
