Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Remote Logon

    Hello,

I've got a Win Server 2008 R2 Standard. Want to give a group the ability to login remotely and locally.

    I created the group AXE.

    1. Put them in the Remote Desktop users Group.

    2. Created a GPO "Allow log on through terminal services" applied to group AXE.

    3. I am still using the 120 days access when I added Remote Desktop Services Role.

I am uncertain where I am missing something. I just added Remote Desktop Session Host. The users will be logging to this server directly, its the only server. It is also a DC because there may be expansion in the future.

I could get rid of the DC part if need be to simplify the situation if you think so. I have the 5 User CAL coming and will add it later but I dont think that is the issue since we are given 120 days of latitude.

    Let me know your Thoughts

    I appreciate the help!

    -Dan

It could be an issue with the authui.dll file. Try to connect to the server remotely and access the ip\c$ and put back the orginal file. After that change authui.dll files both in the %directory%:\windows\system32 and %directory%:\windows\syswow64 locations. And now copy the authui.dll files you got from the 2008 DVD/ISO to respectively the System32 and SysWOW64 directory.
