New cluster - fail to add node 2 to the cluster, Error 0x800706ba: The RPC server is unavailable

Hi, i got stuck on this. I have:

2 DELL server (hardware identical, window are new installed), window 2003 Enterprise SP2

AX4-5 EMC storage (sold by DELL also)

I create a cluster in node 1, successfully. Than I try to add node2 to this cluster, it fail with "Error 0x800706ba: The RPC server is unavailable" (I am using the cluster wizard to create it)

The NetBIOS name resolves to the proper IP address

Anybody can help on this? (I stuck in other country because of this... God bless) Thanks.

Re: New cluster - fail to add node 2 to the cluster, Error 0x800706ba: The RPC server is unavailable

The error is due to the client system issue. If you are using Windows xp and the com+ objects are not configured properly then the error appears. There is an time of 20 to 30 secs that is needed by the computer to release the com+ objects. And that is same applicable to RPC ports which are used by DCOM on a server. If the network is somehow disconnected suddenly after the same then the error appears. There is an hotfix download for the same which can fix the issue.

    Error code 0x800706BA
