The network path was not found

Sorry if this is not a duplacate post the fisrt on errored.

I get the error in the subject line on a Windows 2008 64bit Server. It's
only role is file server. The computer was fine until last night. I can
nolonger access the shared drives. There are other servers on the network.
All in same subnet.

I have done the following:

Checked permissions
Removed shares the re-did them
Uninstalled and reinstalled NIC driver
Remove File Sharing Role and then put it back in
Change the server from Domain Member to worgroup and the back again

I can ping the server by IP and machine name. I can see outer computer's
files from the server. I can copy files (push) to other computers.

I am stumped. Please help

More info:

Okay now it is getting weird...

Just out of curiosity I tried to access the server's shared folders. I was
able to get in and see files for 4 clicks on folders and then it stopped
working again!!!!!!??????

How sure are you of the network itself? Can you get to the switch(es) and
see what the port error counts are? I'd wonder if there's not a problem
with the network. If you can easily get to the switch console (or they're
dumb switches without a console) then use a new switch temporarily. Put the
server in one port, another machine in a 2nd and then an uplink to the main
network in a 3rd. This will presumably let you isolate the server so you
can test whether it's actually working properly. If it fails, then
disconnect the setup from the main network and retry. If that works then
there's definitely something amiss up on the main network.

Do you receive system error when running net view on the server? If not, can
you see the remote computer?

Robert -- No Error running net view. The shares display. The server shows up
in networking. Clicking on the shares causes the network path error.
