Windows Server 2008 Task Manager Problem

I don't know if I'm in the right group or not, as I cannot locate a specific
    Server 2008 category.

Many times, when I attempt to bring up the task manager I am running into a
    problem.

I can right click the task-bar and select task manager from the context menu
or hit CTRL-shift-ESC, or CTRL-alt-Del and select task manger, or start it
from the run line, but the result is always the same... task manger starts
minimized in the task notification area, and when I right click to restore or
close it, the context menu appears, but task manager never comes to the
    foreground.

If I mouse over the task manager Icon on the task-bar, it shows a gauge that
is jumping up and down, and a tooltip shows CPU usage at different
percentages, however I cannot bring the task manager to the foreground to
    work with it!

The context menu also is staying on the screen with "Always on Top" checked,
but I cannot get task manager to come up. Clicking on task managers context
menu does nothing and appears to be ignoring the clicks... the context menu
    does not go away.

Is anyone else having this problem? I gargled it, but nothing related comes
    up.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hello Gary,

Is it also if you type "taskmgr" without the quotes in the run line?

    Best regards

Re: Windows Server 2008 Task Manager Problem

As I mentioned previously, yes, starting it from the Run line also does the
same thing... in fact, I just tried it again, and it does the smae thing. The
Icon goes down to the task notification area, and if I right click it, the
context menu appears, but it's dead... there is no response to the context
menu clicks, and in fact the context menu is still on my screen, and the only
way to get rid of it is to log off or restart the computer.
