Standalone vs Enterprise root CA security.

I am using root and subordinate standalone CA. There is one more configured on the network which issue certificate from the 2nd subordinate. I just want to know the security reason behind using Standalone and Enterprise root CA security. What is the different between both and how does it affects the security.
