    Disc is write protected

I have recently purchased a new use memory stick which is of 1gb so that I can add some music to it and play it in my car stereo via the usb port. It was working properly by loading all the music tracks but after a few days later when I went to add more songs then I was getting error message sating that usb drive is write protected, remove protection and try again. I am also not able to delete the tracks off it and it is giving me to reformat the drive but when I try to do it then again it gives the same message. I am on Windows XP and would like to know a workaround to solve this problem.

You need to examine your memory stick carefully and I have seen that for example the one that I have Trancend JetFlash flash drive has a small switch on them that locks or unlocks the memory stick for write protection. Check if you have the same lock on your usb drive as well.

Even I am having the same problem. The flash drive was working fine when all of a sudden it changed to write protected and I did not do anything to cause it to be that way. It is hardly 2 months old and it is a 2gb flash drive. The drive has very few space left in it and there are also no little thing that you have mentioned to unlock or lock it. I really need some help on this issue.
