Edit folder permissions via Group Policy

I want to edit user permissions on one of my local folder using group policy. That local folder is under a hidden folder which is in Settings\All Users\Application Data. I want to know if i un-hide this folder and make changes in file and folder permission, than will it cause any problems later??

I am not sure but it may or it may not cause problem depending on what you are changing. Simply un-hiding it wont make any difference. Just for e.g. when we change NTFS permissions via GP and create GPO specifically and un-hide it than GPO might visit the NTFS settings again when needed. This will result in delay when a larger storage is being used.

You will need to first of all go to the location in the Group Policy listed. After that right click File System and click Add File. Now, in the "Add a file or folder" just choose the folder for which you want the permissions to be set and click ok. A security box will pop up where you can add a user or a group that wants permission to this folder. You can also try to configure permission inheritance if you want.

To apply or modify permission entries for objects using Group Policy
    1. Open Microsoft Management Console.
    2. On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in, and then click Add.
    3. Click Group Policy Object Editor, and then click Add.
    4. In the Group Policy Wizard, on the Select Group Policy Object page, click Browse.
