REGSVR32 0x80070005

I’m sorry if am posting this query in wrong section. This is Windows XP computer. Yesterday I was trying to install software on this computer related to my mobile. But just before the finish, it get failed while it was trying to register few DLL files. Tried various times but the result was same hence at last I tried registering the manually but that too ended up with an error code 0x80070005.

I tried to get some help regarding the same from web and came to know that the problem somewhat related permissions. I don’t have any idea about permission settings hence I tried the installation by login in to both member accounts as well as built-in local administrator account but none of them worked.

Can you first tell me if your system is connected to any Domain or it is an individual PC? As far as the error is concerned there is probably the permission issue as the problem is with.dll files. Is the setup is in .msi format you can enable verbose logging and perhaps get a clue as to where in the registry the error is occurring. The log should be generated under Temp directory > Local Settings. Check the same and reply.

its a privilege problem if you are in vista right click cmd and run as an administrator
