What is Internet Gateway icon doing in Network Connections?

I am using Windows XP with service pack 2 and also using the Dlink wireless modem at my place. I also have a Linksys cable modem and also a wireless router with me. Today when I started my pc, I saw some strange icon appearing in the network connections and its name was Internet Gateway. When I tried to disable it by right clicking on it then it didnt disable as well? So with the Norton Antivirus installed I scanned my pc and after when the scan was finished the Network Connection icon disappeared from the place? Was my computer hacked or something? Any ideas?

The internet gateway that you are getting usually means that your pc is acting as a router for the other devices on the network to get internet access. If you want then you can safely delete the Internet Gateway connection if you thing no other devices should be connected. You can always also scan your pc incase if you think that you are hit by a virus.

If you want a Broadband Router icon to appear in the My Network Places folder, you must install UPnP. To install UPnP, follow these steps:
