    DCOM Exploit attack

I have been noticing since yesterday that the Windows Firewall will just shutdown and I have to re-enable it inorder to start it. When I checked in the Avast Network Shield log messages, I saw the below problem:

    11.04.2006 18:48:06 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.16.3:135
    12.04.2006 19:04:40 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.16.3:135
    12.04.2006 19:04:59 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.210.79:135
    12.04.2006 19:05:05 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.167.145:135
    12.04.2006 19:06:13 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.32.104:135
    12.04.2006 19:08:33 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.14.21:135
    12.04.2006 19:11:38 DCOM Exploit attack from 24.82.24.224:135

I have checked the IPs and they are my internet providers IP. So does this means that I dont have any issues, any ideas?

I think that you need to update your Windows operating system which might be turne off or something. Also the firewall cannot be disabled by the attacks that you are getting but because of some malicious software or either from another firewall that you must be using on your computer. So, you can try to buy a router that comes with an integrated firewall protection in order to prevent from such kind of attacks. Also, check your computer whether there are any virus infection in it, and remove it asap.

Yes, you can try to get a Cable or DSL Router such as the Linksys BEFSR41 which is a NAT based router and will limit the activity that you are getting and thus you will not get any kind of alerts or pop-ups or even logged events.

You can even try to get the Linksys WRT610N that contrasts sharply with the ancestral forms of popular series WRT54G. This time, Linksys has opted for a flat design with curved shapes which is relatively successful. Of course, we can always blame the choice of a glossy black surface of the central part. Note that it is possible to set this modem on a flat surface (wall, desk) using two screws. Finally, we must admit that Cisco (Linksys) does not mock users.
