Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced

Whenever I start my system I am getting a error about missing or corrupt file on boot. The detailed error is -- Windows could not start because the following file is missing or
    corrupt:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced
. It just appeared suddenly. It looks like some issue with windows registry. My Windows is not working. Also there are some internal updates which are missing. I have some settings that would be lost if I run a fresh setup. I need some help here to restore Windows. I had performed chkdsk operation also, but it shows a OK result.

Try Last Good Known Configuration. Try to restart the system and then press F8 constantly. In that you can see a set of menus. You can choose Last Good Known configuration. If that does not work then there is no option left other than re-installing entire server. Also the bootable disc does not offer you settings backup. If there is problem with registry then the system is completely dead.
