    Event ID 1008 .Net Framework

I am trying to apply KB829019 update on my Windows 2000 Server. The update includes .net framework. But when I try to run the setup I am getting a constant Event ID 1008 errors on my screen. I had checked in the log and found that the error is much common. Does anyone is getting exactly the same error. I need some help to deal with the problem. Thanks.

Open cmd and then try to run the following command. Do this in admin account only. You can access that by right clicking on the same and selecting run as > administrator. The command is winmgmt /clearadap & winmgmt /resyncperf. This might help you to fix the issue for start. Try to get fresh updates by manual download from Microsoft website. Because it looks that the update is corrupted and due to which you are getting the problem.

I found a kb article which has information on the error. And I am sure it is going to help you to fixing the issue. Also there is a hotfix that fix the issue. The issue appears due to some old file in your system. You must recheck the updates and try the setup one more time. This will be quiet helpful for you.

FIX: Event ID: 1008 occurs after you apply security update MS07-040 on a computer that has the .NET Framework 1.0 installed

First off thank you all for the great info. I was getting the same error in the event log. the Extensible Counter List Tool was able to stop the event log spam via disabling the ASP.NET performance counter. Disabling the ASP.NET_1.1.4322 DID NOT WORK. This events started after installing ASP.NET 2.0, which I did uninstall after the errors. It seams od to me that there are 3 Extensible performance counters ASP, ASP.NET and ASP.NET_1.1.4322. Should there only be one or maybe 2? The last 2 are related to the same aspnet_isapi.dll (same directory same file) Another oddity is the fact that there is nothing in the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009 the article indicates that the values in Perflib and 009 should be the same. However, 009 is empty?? just thought that I would put some more info out there, see if anyone else has got this resolved.
