Logon failure: the target account name is incorrect

I am getting trouble in drive mapping in Windows Server. Whenever I try to do that I am getting a logon failure error. It shows me a message on the screen that the target account name is incorrect. I am sure the drive is already mapped. I search on all the different computers but not able to locate proper solution for the same. What are the options available that I can try to configure the same. Thanks.

Check that you are not having multiple domain controller in your network. Because if it is there then the drive might be located on some other DC and you get that error. Try to map the drive on other client and see that you are getting exactly the same error or it is related to a single system only. It looks a issue of replication. I am sure due to that you are not able to generate a proper mapped network drive.

What is the structure of your DNS. It must be proper and you should be able to access the same through IP. Also check that your client machine is properly pointed to the DNS. The last thing you have to do is ensure that all DC are proper configured and your client is having appropriate permission to access content from it.
