Sony Ericsson Announced Five New Mobiles

Sony Ericsson announced a range of new handsets today at Communicasia 08, but the company also announced three new Bluetooth headsets and two new HSDPA/HSUPA modems, which includes the C905 and the S302 camera phones, the F305 gaming phone and the K330 and J132 entry level models.

The C905 will actually be available in three different versions, the C905, the C905a and C905c. The C905 supports European 2,100MHz 3G networks and quad-band GSM, while the C905a adds support for 850 and 900MHz 3G networks used in the Americas. The C905c drops 3G all together, but seems to add support for Chinese and will only be available in China.

Other features include an 8.1Megapixel camera with Xenon flash, A-GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB mass storage support, DNLA support for video streaming and an FM radio. The S302 was covered in detail in yesterday's post and nothing much new was covered in the press release. Both models will be available sometime in Q4.

The F305 will be available in Q3 and again, the details of the handset were covered in our post yesterday. The K330 is a basic handset with a 1.7in display, Bluetooth and a VGA resolution camera and an FM radio. The J132 is even more basic, as it only has an FM radio with RDS support as its only stand-out feature. The J132 offers up to 9h talk time and 450h standby time, with the K330 coming in at 7h talk time and 300h standby time. Both models will be available in 900/1800 and 850/1900MHz versions.

The three new Bluetooth headsets consist of the HBH-PV-715, HBH-PV-720 and the HBH-PV-740. All three models offer 11h of talk time and 80h of standby time, and all three models support Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. There are some minor feature differences among the three models, such as an LCD display on the HBH-PV-740.

The HSDPA/HSUPA modems go under the model name of MD400g and MD400. The difference between the two is that the MD400g adds a built-in GPS. Both models support HSDPA speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and HSUPA (that is upload speed) of up to 2Mbps. Both models also feature a memory card reader that accepts M2 and microSD memory cards, and they have a built-in swivel antenna. Both models will be available sometime in Q4.
