2015 could be the year of the first smartphones running Ubuntu Touch, Linux mobile platform which almost started with a template of Ubuntu Edge that tried to go through a project funded by crowdfunding.
It is a smartphone of Meizu MX4 equipped with Ubuntu Touch which was on display at MWC 2015 in Barcelona. Remember, this is a smartphone with a 5.4-inch display with full HD resolution and Mediatek MT6595 processor carrying a octa-core associated with 2GB of RAM, with a 20 megapixel camera on the back.
The interface is organized around the Scopes, ie multiple screens to suit different themes, news applications via personal information (notifications, SMS, social networks), with an encore on the left side bar shortcuts.
The idea is to provide relevant information based on user tastes and habits but without necessarily a widget system as on other mobile OS. One can also find open applications on a specific screen and close with a simple drag of the finger.
As for WebOS in its time, the screens of the Ubuntu interface is generally accessible to drag your finger from one edge of the screen, making the system more user friendly without ending up on the passages forced to a tree menu.
One of the screens for applications in HTML5 installed. The set was quite responsive and pleasant to use, with rapid control of major manipulations.
