Fixstars Solutions announces SSD offering 3TB of space in a 2.5-inch size and talks to reach 5TB in the coming months.

A young company called Fixstars Solutions has just announced a 3TB SSD in 2.5-inch format with 9.5 millimeters. Already available on the North American market, the model in question is identifiable with its SSD-3000M reference and is aimed at professionals for installation in data centers, for example.

At the side of technical specs, we are talking points to 350 MB/s write and 520 MB/s read. Turbo mode allows to consider transfer rate of 500 MB/s write. On the consumption side, the manufacturer indicates less than 3 Watts at rest, less than 5 Watts in operation and less than 6.2 Watts in Turbo mode.

And the firm Fixstars Solutions does not stop there way either. In fact, its web portal mentions a SSD-5000M model which has a capacity of 5TB and should be available by the end of first quarter of 2015.

But it is not alone in this race to the ability to compete with hard drives that now flirt with 10TB. Foremay, which unveiled a 2TB SSD in 2013, promises to its side of the 8TB SSD. Not forgetting to mention the giant SanDisk, to whom we owe a Optimus MAX of 4TB.
