Amounting to 970 million dollars, Amazon will pay the streaming platform Twitch which specializes in the distribution of video games live.

It's a surprise. It's finally Amazon and not Google redeeming Twitch. Launched in 2011, Twitch is a platform that owes its popularity to the live broadcast of portions of video games and interactions available to gamers to share their experience online for public.

Twitch is also the broadcasting platform for various e-sports competitions, while the service is integrated into consoles of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to allow users to simply broadcast their games.

Amazon speaks of a "global phenomenon" now with over 55 million fans that play, watch and comment about video game parties. What legitimize the tidy sum of nearly $970 million making it one of the largest acquisitions by Amazon. The completion of the acquisition is expected in the course of the second half.

With this acquisition by Amazon, Twitch ensures that its ambition is to create faster tools and services for the gaming community, while retaining its brand and independence. For Amazon, Twitch will probably be an opportunity to convey their own content and give rise to interactions with the products it sells.

We also recall that Amazon has a design studio of Videogame called Amazon Game Studios bought earlier this year by the studio Double Helix Games. Moreover, its Fire TV was also thought to attract gamers.
