After the RAM modules, AMD now enters the SSD market.

You may remember the first RAM modules sold by AMD in November 2011 was supplied by Patriot, these bars represent the first step of the former smelter outside the scope of processors and graphics cards.

In August, AMD made a second infidelity to its historical business by offering a SSD, this time from a partnership with OCZ. This is at least shown by the site wccftech.

The Radeon R7 are no longer only graphics cards, but it is an SSD as well, because the brand has decided to assign the business name. In fact, these units are approaching their data sheet similar to Vector 180 of OCZ.

AMD Radeon SSD

AMD SSDs are indeed equipped with the same controller (a Barefoot 3 M00), the same NAND chips (the second generation 19 nm MLC modules engraved by Toshiba), and offer a level of performance very close: 550 MB/s sequential read and 530 MB/s writing, 85000 to 100,000 IOPS read and 90,000 write.

The Radeon R7 will be available in three different capacities of 120, 240 and 480 GB. The prices are so far not known, but should be announced in a month or two. These SSDs has a guarantee of four years by AMD.
