This was expected and is now official. In the era of Satya Nadella, Microsoft finally offers its Office for iPad version which was the subject of many rumors. The new CEO of the Redmond says that this is a version especially designed for Apple tablet and above the level of Office Mobile for iPhone.

Requiring an iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Office for iPad offers Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. Integrating OneDrive is also present in order to find documents on other devices.

If the applications are available for free, this free is limited to consultation and presentation of documents. As foreseen, the editing and creation of new documents requires a subscription of Office 365 which is paid. Satya Nadella to the objective is to bring Office 365 on all platforms and devices.

As for applications feature called the Ribbon interface, Microsoft promises a flawless formatting of documents to locate the same on devices. For editing features, they are not basic as is the case with Office for iPhone but much more extensive.

Among some aspects highlighted, changes can be tracked in Word when working in collaboration, the simple addition of formulas and charts in Excel as well as the large screen presentations can be noticed.

One obvious question is whether Microsoft has not taken too long to propose Office for iPad with users who have so far been without Word and others. Applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint to iPad is already available in the Apple App Store.
