Braven launches portable splash resistant enclosure that can synchronize with another speaker to create a stereo pair.

Braven, one of the first to have followed suit with Jawbone market, yesterday announced a new model. Braven 710 has the advantage of splash proof but can be associated with another portable speaker.

The new features of Braven 710 index IPX5 protection. It is not waterproof (immersion), and is not protected against the sand or other particles, unlike Braven BRV-1, but it is resistant to water spray and splashes. Like the Sonos Play:1 or Sony SRS-BT50, it can be used without fear beside a shower or a swimming pool.

It can actually be connected wirelessly to a compatible enclosure via the TrueWireless home function. The music here comes from a Bluetooth or wired device, instead of being decoded by the speaker, but all work in battery exchange and requires no power supply.

Anyway, the NFC facilitates setting operations and startup, and support for aptX codec provides a fairly accurate sound transmission. Finally, note that the large capacity battery lets you listen to music for 12 hours or charge a device through a USB port.

The Braven 710 is now available in the U.S. retail price of $170.
