Over the months the market share of Windows Phone has climbed gently and Microsoft system began to make some shadow competition.

According to the latest report of the firm Kantar Worldpanel, in the five major markets in Europe, one in tenth smartphone market would be equipped with Windows Phone. The Microsoft OS is slowly but surely gaining popularity and has already overtaken iOS in Italy.

In France, the Android system would have a market share of 68.2% against 62.3% last year. iOS is in second place with 15% down to 0.5% and Windows Phone to 5.2% against 10.7% in 2012. The Microsoft OS knew ahead with BlackBerry's market share which is now 4.7% after losing 2.7 points.

Spain is the place where Android would record the highest adoption rate with a 90% share of the smartphone market. In Italy, Windows Phone would position itself in second place with iOS before grouping 13.7% of users.

The data in this report are extracted from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech research conducted among consumers. For the year, analysts interrogate more than 1 million participants in Europe.
