Yahoo! increases its investment to improve its Flickr platform of photos and confirms that it has acquired the startup company LookFlow.

Yahoo! welcomes a new team of engineers and this time it is the company named LookFlow ads that has been purchased by the California giant. LookFlow specializes in Deep Learning, that is to say, the infrastructure design of machine learning to automatically optimize a set of algorithms.

These works allow LookFlow to recognize the most appreciated by a visitor or to suggest them other similar photos. This technology will be added to the Flickr platform, likely to return suggestions of contacts by comparing snapshots of a user with those of another person.

Asked by the blog TechCrunch, a spokesman confirmed the acquisition. However, the amount of the acquisition was not disclosed.

In last May, Yahoo! lifted the veil on a new version of Flickr with, among others, 1 TB of free space for users and a new interface. The CEO, Marissa Mayer, explained to invest heavily to modernize the service and in August the group redeemed IQ Engines, specializing in image recognition and faces.
