At Ceatec Tokyo, Huawei has launched a SD card with a card slot and nano-SIM to connect a device to the 3G mobile networks.
Huawei, which floods Japan with its little pocket WiFi routers takes one step further by incorporating a controller that is able to connect to 3G and also a drive for nano-SIM card (like the latest iPhone) inside to envelope listing the interface and format of an SD memory card.
This card will not allow you to store your photos, but it will be able to connect one device equipped with the adequate housing for 3G mobile networks like laptop (limited to 21 Mb/s). The Chinese manufacturer has called it as an "Ultrastick" 3G SD Card.
This could probably be convenient for ultrabooks users equipped with an SD reader wishing to connect to 3G without monopolizing scarce USB ports. No sale price has yet been announced.
