The famous hackers group from Chaos Computer Club say that they have managed to bypass the security measures of the iPhone 5s and its biometric system. By simply taking a photograph of a fingerprint, they were able to activate the device, which proves, according to them, the weakness of this type of mechanism.

The Chaos Computer Club published a video in which they have explained how to cheat the system of tactile recognition built into the Apple smartphone, the iPhone 5s. This group of hackers have used a relatively simple method, known since 2004. To do this, they were simply able to reproduce a fingerprint taking a photograph of it and then served it as a template to create a "mold" of the footprint which can then be used later.

The material used is also very sketchy since Starbug, to whom we owe this hacking says to have a camera that can take pictures of 2400 dpi, with a 1200 dpi laser printer and paper transparent. They also used the paste in order to achieve a mold impChaos Computer Clubressions.

Apple Touch ID Hacked

For its part, Apple explained during the presentation of the their device that allowed it to simply secure a device and thus recognize its owner, only with his finger. The group also stated that the sensor contained in the iPhone 5s reached an accuracy of 500 dpi and can recognize a finger to the layers beneath the skin.

In a footnote, the hacker Starbug says that Apple "sensor simply has greater than those traditionally meeting resolution. As we have been saying for years, fingerprints can not be used to connect anything. You let them everywhere, and it is far too easy to make false impressions."
