Following an update of the Google Authenticator app for iOS, many users have observed a complete restoration of their previous connections.

The two-factor authentication mechanisms require the user to enter a username and password but also a unique and temporary code. This can be sent via SMS or can be directly accessible through a dedicated third-party application with the advantage that it can be used offline, for example abroad for a connection in a cyber cafe.

On iOS, Google has its application Authenticator that is used to set up multiple accounts and to get the code that automatically refreshes it. The latest version (2.0) released yesterday has a new user interface with support for the Retina display, a minor update on the whole for this type of applications but not without consequences!

In fact, many users explain that after installing this version, all related to their previously configured on an earlier version of the application has connections that have been removed. This means that all local third-party applications, web or mobile, allowed to retrieve information about a Google Account that will stop working unless configured again one by one.
