AMD continues to develop its Catalyst 13.8 drivers, with the provision of a beta 2 that is supposed to improve the performance of Radeon in single card configuration as CrossFire.
With Catalyst 13.8 drivers, the first beta went online earlier this month, AMD immediately spotted problem of framerate micro-drops that sometimes affect configurations of two GPU cards with a function called frame pacing that allows drivers to clock display images on the screen more effectively. The beta 2 delivered this week promises optimizations that should result in improved performance and the fluidity felt for the World of Warcraft games, Sniper Elite, Watch Dogs and Tomb Raider. The frame pacing is enabled by default, but can be turned off by the user via the control panel drivers.
For the rest, the beta 2 promises improved graphics for titles like Saints Row 4, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Final Fantasy XIV performance and solving some problems of corruption that may occur in Far Cry 3 when anti-aliasing is activated on the drivers option. These Catalyst 13.8 Beta 2 is available for Radeon card or mobile gpu, HD 5000 and newer series for Windows 7 and Windows 8 in 32 or 64 bits.
