Facebook is planning to launch a new feature inspired by Twitter: highlighting current topics where user speaks more.

On Twitter, hashtags are used to make up the trending topics. This specificity in the microblogging platform will soon be on Facebook in a slightly different form, according to information released by AllThingsD website.

The social network will indeed highlight the most talked topic on its platform into a new block of subjects. This will take place in the current flow, possibly up to believe the mobile device screen capture provided by the media. With this new feature, Facebook wants to "initiate conversations about common interests related to the news," as said by Justin Osofsky, Head of Partnerships Service. The algorithm will provide information to the user based on the publications of its friends, but also those of other members who have posted in "public" mode. Thus, by clicking on the link "Trending Topic", the user will be returned on a page summarizing the trend.

After the audited profiles and hashtags, this is another typical feature of Twitter that Facebook is eyeing. The social network also seeks to capitalize on the use of its pages and profiles with subscriptions by celebrities, who are more likely to publish exclusive information on their dedicated spaces. At a time when there is evidence that Twitter can boost viewership of television, we imagine that Facebook would, too, benefit as it should be the "media hype."
