Skype Launches Redesigned 4.0 version after passing 100M Android downloads
The team developing the VoIP service Skype is satisfied with its adoption by the followers of Android and announces the release of a new version.
On its official blog, the Microsoft subsidiary Skype says that it has crossed the symbolic threshold of 100 million downloads for its Android mobile application. On this occasion, Skype announced the availability of a new version a few days after claiming to refocus its strategy on mobile.
This new version now has a user interface inspired by Modern UI, which was developed in the continuity of work initiated with the application for Windows Phone 8. According to the development team, the application would result in improved ergonomics with a simple conversation management. Few features are emerging with new gestures for example to send a direct message or a response to rapidly initiate a video call.
Skype says that in addition to user interface architecture, it has also been revised from top to bottom to provide better performance while maintaining stability. This would mean including a shorter startup time.
