Seagate 600 and 600 Pro SSDs Launched

Seagate finally launches "600 SSD", in the consumer SSD market.

Seagate has actually benefited from the renewal of its range of storage media flash memory, with three models that meet the needs of companies to launch its first model designed for individuals.

The "Seagate SSD 600" based on the LM87800 controller Link A Media used for Corsair Neutron and Neutron GTX, associated here with a custom firmware. This controller is not very young compared to those of the most recent SSD experts in the field.

Performance will vary depending on the capacity:

    1. 120 GB: 500 and 300 MB/s sequential read and write, 80,000 and 60,000 IOPS random read and write
    2. 240 and 480 GB: 500, respectively, and 400 MB/s, 80,000 and 70,000 IOPS

The "Seagate SSD 600" uses a connector of Serial ATA 6 Gb/s and 2.5-inches, 5 or 7.5 mm thick. Pricing and launch date are unfortunately not disclosed.

The "Seagate 600 Pro SSD", "Seagate 1200 SSD" and "Seagate X8 Accelerator" rely on their endurance and/or their superior performance, including leveraging the SAS connectors to 12 Gb/s and PCI-Express 2.0 x8.
