Skype has announced on its official blog about the "merger" between the software and Live Messenger, which is off to its share in mid-March, from 8 April, the two programs will definitely be linked under the banner Skype.
Live Messenger, formerly known as MSN, cease to exist till 15 March: Microsoft had announced this already last November, explaining that, it will focus on Skype. In fact, the software takes over VOIP and can already link a Messenger account to a Skype account so that the contacts can be merged.
The next step is to push all users of Live Messenger that have not made the transition to Skype after March 15 to make the change: for example, from April 8, they will receive notifications for any help on upgrading their software, and their Live account, to Skype.
The service says that the overall procedure will take few weeks if the English-speaking clients will receive notifications from the 8 users using Skype in other languages , thatwill be gradually be served. Brazilians will be the last, around April 30.
Note that it is not necessary to wait for this "merger" as officially explained: The procedure is very simple, you can link the two accounts and services already by going on the website of the VOIP software. Finally, it should also be noted that third-party applications, such as Trillian, will continue to operate traditionally until 2014.
