Google has rolled out free SMS service for all Gmail users in India. Google India hasn't officially announced it yet but many people have already received notification about this new service. Their SMS service will allow users to send free SMS’s to any mobile number via their chat windows on Gmail. They will just have to add the mobile number of the ones they want to send SMSes in their contacts of e-mail address book. Sources say that their SMS service will provide SMSes credit where one SMS will cost one credit. One of the very interesting things about this service is that you can earn credit as well. One can earn 5 credits if he/she gets a reply from any mobile number to your Gmail. In fact one can send a message to his own number, reply to it and earn 5 SMS credit. In short one will be able to buy more messages by spending for outgoing messages, for eg If you pay your operator 50 paisa for one outgoing message, than you can earn 5 SMS credit by replying once to your Gmail.
Google is launching this SMS service in partnership with India cellular operators like Aircel, Idea, Loop Mobile, MTS, Reliance, Tata DoCoMo, Tata Indicom and Vodafone.
