In a market as rudimentary as that of the memory card, which ultimately leaves little room for innovation, manufacturers stand somehow apart. Enjoying the moment, Lexar nevertheless succeeds in unveiling the first 256 GB SD card
We are still far from the maximum theoretical standard of 2TB SDXC card, but it is nevertheless a new level that crosses Lexar, a subsidiary of flash memory specialist Micron, Crucial alongside. Lexar was also the first to reach 128 GB in early 2011 . But it is Toshiba, who had crossed the boundary of the SDHC standard, by selling the first card of 64GB in early 2010.
Since then, progress has been made not only on the memory density (more capacity in the same volume), but also on the transfer rate. SD card 256 GB actually starts its career at 400x, 133x cons to 128GB at launch. More specifically, the "Lexar Professional 400x SDXC 256 GB" is certified as Class 10 and UHS-I (Ultra High Speed 1). It boasts sequential read throughput of 60 MB/s and promises cash flows and Full HD 1080p 3D support for the latest devices on the market.
